Privacy Policy
Polaris is a macOS application for App Store Optimization ("the App"), operated by Chuong Le ("CDev", "we", "us"). This policy explains what data we collect, where it lives, and what we do with it.
Data that stays on your device
Polaris is local-first. The following never leaves your Mac except through the license check described below:
- Your projects, tracked keywords, rank history, and analysis
- Cached App Store responses and app metadata
- App preferences and workspace state
Data we process on our servers
- License activation — when you enter a license key we store: the key (hashed), a device install identifier, your Mac's platform UUID (to detect reinstalls), device name, and app version. Used to enforce device limits and issue session tokens.
- Request logs — our API (hosted on Google Cloud Run) briefly logs IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
- Purchases — payment processing is handled entirely by Polar.sh as Merchant of Record. We receive order confirmations (email, product, amount) via webhook — never your card details.
Third-party services
- Polar.sh — payments, license key issuance, taxes, invoicing. Subject to Polar's privacy policy.
- Google Cloud (Firebase/Cloud Run/Firestore) — license records and request caches, hosted in Singapore (asia-southeast1).
- Apple — the App queries public Apple/iTunes endpoints directly from your device; those requests go to Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
What we never do
- Sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
- Track your usage analytics inside the app (no telemetry SDKs)
- Read, access, or modify your Apple Developer account — Polaris works entirely with public App Store data
Data retention & deletion
License records are kept while your license is active. To delete your license record and device activations, email [email protected]. Local app data can be removed by deleting the app and its Application Support folder.
Your rights
Regardless of your jurisdiction, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and the date above. Continued use of the App after changes means acceptance.
